Kindle 2 Blue Silicone Cover Sleeve Review

This product definitely protects the Kindle. Holes are cut out for the main screen, the keyboard, and five-way joystick, the docking holes along the left side, the power and headphone jack, the USB port and both speakers, but surprisingly not the volume controls. The buttons (Prev Page, Next Page, Menu, Home, Back) do not have holes, which is good. A nice touch is that the names of these buttons are printed on the silicone sleeve as well.

Happily, even with the silicone, the Kindle fits within the case I have (Double Memory Foam Pouch Case by CaseCrown), though I was afraid it wouldn't. The only downside of the combination is the lack of holes for the volume controls make it very hard to access them.

From top to bottom it fits snugly, except for the main window which has some slack in it, meaning that along the sides of the window, the silicone bulges up, which is a little distracting.

The bigger issue, however, is the five-way joystick. With the added thickness of the silicone, it is now lower than the surface level and you have to reach down to get at it. I am frequently pushing it down when I'm trying to move it vertically or horizontally. I'm going to have to cut a bigger hole because this just isn't working.

Overall, it's quite good, certainly worth the price, and it ships internationally (most Kindle accessories don't).

When the case arrived I was pleased with the color, but it smelled awful. So, I put it ourside for a couple of days in the fresh air and that cured that problem. Because I had read previous reviews I was not surpised about the smell, so no problem. But the plastic cover for the screen was totally useless; it smeered the screen to unreadable; I just tossed it. Overall, I am finding the sleeve a useful item, but since I rarely travel more than a couple hundred miles away from home and could just as easily put it in my purse, I don't think it is necessary.

We bought 3 of these Kindle 2 USB cable to have as spares since more often than not we were forgetting to pack the original one when going on trips. Now we put one in each car and in a pocket of our suitcase and know that we will have one when we arrive.

The cables are about 3' long and seem to have good quality connectors on the USB and Kindle plugs. The wire is a little thin, but I have no reason to suspect that there will be any problems.

I bought this skin for the 6" Kindle because it didn't come with any kind of case (!!) and the Kindle seems so delicate. It also makes it easier to spot the Kindle around the house. Perhaps my house is too beige but the Kindle without a skin just seems to blend into everything! I bought these to better protect my kindle, specifically when I carry it in my purse. I like the case because it is thick and keeps my kindle from damage. The kindle fits inside the case with a little bit of breathing room, so the fit is not snug. But, I didn't want the fit to be too snug and then risk having the power switch turn on when I am not reading. The only negative about this case is the the zipper sometimes sticks. Other than that, I like the case. The front pocket is not very big and cannot hold the extra reading light that I bought, but it is good for smaller objects. I love the screen protector. It was easy to put on and really protects the screen. Be sure that you have a really clean screen before you apply the protector and be sure you smooth out all of the air bubbles. There are times when there is a bit of a glare now that I have the screen protector, but it is truly a small price to pay.

I bought this skin for the 6" Kindle because it didn't come with any kind of case (!!) and the Kindle seems so delicate. It can also be a tad slippery so the silicone skin makes it more grippy and easier to hold on to. It is easy to get on and off and the lovely light blue color I chose is sheer enough that you can still easily see the Page and Home buttons underneath. It also makes it easier to spot the Kindle around the house. Perhaps my house is too beige but the Kindle without a skin just seems to blend into everything! I haven't used the clip on light much yet but I like that it is versatile to use on real books as well, unlike some of the other lights designed specifically for the Kindle.

I bought these to better protect my kindle, specifically when I carry it in my purse. I like the case because it is thick and keeps my kindle from damage. The kindle fits inside the case with a little bit of breathing room, so the fit is not snug. But, I didn't want the fit to be too snug and then risk having the power switch turn on when I am not reading. The only negative about this case is the the zipper sometimes sticks. Other than that, I like the case. The front pocket is not very big and cannot hold the extra reading light that I bought, but it is good for smaller objects. I love the screen protector. It was easy to put on and really protects the screen. Be sure that you have a really clean screen before you apply the protector and be sure you smooth out all of the air bubbles. There are times when there is a bit of a glare now that I have the screen protector, but it is truly a small price to pay.

I am on Kindle #3. My Amazon Kindle cover broke my first Kindle and my second Kindle was damaged because I had no cover, so I am DETERMINED to protect my latest (and hopefully last) Kindle. I think this case is almost perfect (really 4.5 stars). It protects my Kindle without those hooks that broke my first one, the cover fits securely so my Kindle never slips out, AND I can wash the dishes while reading thanks to the stand! I love it! My only nitpick? It is pleather which does not have the depth that real leather has (- 1/2 star). Also, when the pleather gets a nick in it, the material beneath is bright white which is a high contrast to the two colors the cover is available in: red and black . The black case may look a little more expensive; I got the red because I carry way to much junk in my purse and this makes my Kindle easy to find. I have a friend with a M-edge cover, and although that product has much cooler color options, those black elastic straps the cover uses to hold the Kindle in look chintzy, especially when contrasted with the more expensive look of the M-edge cover. I really do believe this is the best Kindle cover available (although I would probably have been willing to pay a little more for real leather).

I bought these to better protect my kindle, specifically when I carry it in my purse. I like the case because it is thick and keeps my kindle from damage. The kindle fits inside the case with a little bit of breathing room, so the fit is not snug. But, I didn't want the fit to be too snug and then risk having the power switch turn on when I am not reading. The only negative about this case is the the zipper sometimes sticks. Other than that, I like the case. The front pocket is not very big and cannot hold the extra reading light that I bought, but it is good for smaller objects. I love the screen protector. It was easy to put on and really protects the screen. Be sure that you have a really clean screen before you apply the protector and be sure you smooth out all of the air bubbles. There are times when there is a bit of a glare now that I have the screen protector, but it is truly a small price to pay.

I bought the pink one (in case you weren't sure based on the title...) I love it...The color is great, and for everyday usage it seems fine.

My complaints: while the neoprene is nice because it doesn't add bulk it also doesn't seem to add a lot of protection. The case seems like there is extra space, but it doesn't fit the cover that my kindle came with.

If I carried it around in my purse more I'd look for something more protective. I certainly will get something else in addition to this before I travel. But if I'm just going down to the coffee shop then it is perfect!

I love the extra pocket it has...drop my ID in there and go off to get a latte and read a book!

I haven't added the screen cover, since I don't really touch the screen much...I'm not sure if it would add any glare or not so I can't report on it...which is fine, the screen cover was in no way a factor for my purchasing this case.

The photo doesn't give a true representation of this case; the swirls are white with bright gold glitter. It's actually quite pretty, if a bit too glam for my taste. My daughter loved it, so we swapped cases and we're both happy.

This case is almost like a skin and case all-in-one. Instead of securing with straps or a hinge, the Kindle slides in from the inside edge and is enclosed in a protective pocket. It covers front, back and edges, except for screen, button and port cut-outs. Since it protects more areas from scuffs, this case an excellent choice for Kindles that get tossed into purses with a lot of other stuff.

The magnetic closure is strong and nearly invisible. There's no wayward snap or strap to dictate where you can comfortably hold the folded back case while reading.

I keep very short fingernails, and I had a little trouble activating the power switch. Since the cut-out is tightly placed, my usual method of running the pad of my finger across the top doesn't work well. My daughter didn't have any issue with it at all, since she always slides the switch with a fingernail.

All in all, it's a well-made and eye-catching case.

I got this and one of the Skins for my Kindle 2. I keep the Skin on it all the time and when I'm traveling with it or not using it, I put the Kindle 2 in here. I thought the case would be harder than it is, but it offers reasonable protection anyway. With the Skin and the straps inside this Color Cube, the Kindle 2 does NOT slide around and there's still a little room if you want to use the inside pocket. My complaints are minimal and trivial: The straps inside are velcro and the harsh velcro is right over the Kindle 2's screen, but you can of course turn the thing over or get a protective film. The handles are stiff and don't bend back that easily, making this case take up a little more space than you'd think. The soft padding inside leaves fuzzies on the Skin.
Bottom Line: This is a totally fun little case, I do recommend it, & I would *absolutely* buy it again.
